        W6L SPECIAL EVENTS STATION
OPERATING PROCEDURE (UPDATED 2018):


1.         AN EXAMPLE OF CALLING CQ IS TO SAY:  “CALLING CQ, CQ, CQ THIS IS
WHISKY 6 LIGHTHOUSE W6L SPECIAL EVENT STATION AT THE OLD PONT LOMA
LIGHTHOUSE CALLING CQ AND LISTENING (or QRZ?)”.

2.        TAKE YOUR TIME, THIS IS NOT A CONTEST. GET CONTACTS NAME AND LOCATION,
LIGHTHOUSE NAME AND NUMBER.

3.        FILL OUT THE COMPLETE LOG LINE FOR ECH CONTACT.  BE SURE TO INSERT
YOUR NAME AS THE “OPERATOR”.

4.        DEPENDING ON THE NUMBER OF OPERATORS, WE MAY BE USING A  “STATION
OPERATOR SCHEDULE SIGN-UP SHEET” SO THAT EVERYONE WILL GET A CHANCE TO
MAKE SOME CONTACTS.

5.        THERE WILL BE A SEPARATE LOG BOOK FOR EACH STATION.

6.        IDENTIFY THE STATION EACH 60 MINUTES: “THIS IS W6SDO OPERATING AS
W6L SPECIAL EVENT STATION AT THE OLD POINT LOMA LIGHTHOUSE IN SAN DIEGO,
CALIFORNIA”.

7.        THE PRIMARY SSB PHONE CALLING FEQUENCIES  (+/- QRM) THAT WE WILL BE
USING WILL BE:
      a.        20 meters        between 14.250 and 14.290 MHz
      b.        40 meters        between 7.250 and 7.290 MHz        

8.        EACH STATION MUST BE OPERATED ONLY ON THE BAND THAT IS MARKED ON
THE ATTACHED “BAND” DESIGNATOR.

9.        WE ARE PLANNING TO USE BANDPASS FILTERS. DO NOT CHANGE BANDS ON
ANY OF THE RADIOS!  CHANGING BANDS WITHOUT CHANGING THE ANTENNA AND
FILTERS FIRST WILL BURN OUT THE FILTER.
